In this study, the goal was to demonstrate Materialytics Analysis’ ability to detect different heat treatments to a single bar of alloy. Ninety coupons were cut from a single bar of alloy, 30 were left in their original condition (A), 30 were treated at condition 1150 (B), and 30 were treated at condition 900 (C). The results from that study are above. This study has been repeated on multiple bars and different alloys with similar results. This consistent success suggests that it would be useful in detecting other treatments and verifying that quality standards have been met.

In this study, different lots and brands of acetaminophen were compared to determine if they could be distinguished from each other. They were distinguished from each other with 98% average accuracy.

Materialytics Analysis is very accurate when applied to determining the country of origin, from which a mineral was taken. The ability to pinpoint the location is chiefly a function of the robustness of the reference databases available, emphasizing the importance of collection. Materialytics Analysis is so precise that it can determine not only the country of origin, but the mine of origin as well. However, a robust, well collected database is required. When that database is available, deposits as close as 200 meters apart have been distinguished. For example, when only 10 emerald locations were tested, accuracy was at 98%, but when 30 locations were tested, results were 100% accurate. Materialytics has a significant Geomaterial Reference Collection that is made up of over 50,000 samples from over 60 countries, 330 different locations, and all 7 continents.
